The Scubaphone is an underwater voice communicator for divers. It allows to communicate freely underwater, by just simply speaking. The sound produced by the speaking person is transmitted directly through the water, allowing other scuba divers to hear it with their own ears (without any receiver). What is more, the Scubaphone is the only device compatible with all standard mouth-held diving regulators used by a vast majority of scuba divers. It is also entirely passive – it contains no electronics and does not require any power source. The principle of its operation is based on the same mechanisms, that are used by some species of the marine mammals to produce sounds underwater. The team, that has invented and developed the Scubaphone, consists of divers and scientists with huge experience in the fields of hydroacoustics and bioacoustics, who spent many years on investigating the physical phenomena underlying underwater vocalizations of the grey seals, dolphins and porpoises. Our device is easy to use, requires no training and therefore is available also for recreational scuba divers.
What is Scubaphone?
The Scubaphone is robust, reliable and can has no operational depth limits. According to independent experts a quality of sound offered by the Scubaphone is better than the quality offered by electronic transmitters combined with full-face masks. Our communicator is also much cheaper than any electronic based device and its price is comparable with a price of other standard elements of diver’s equipment such as a backup light. Scubaphone can significantly improve safety of scuba diving and makes the process of learning (how to dive) much easier, especially for the diving instructors who will be able to communicate with participants of their diving courses more effectively.
